Girls 17U 3SSB Session 1 Recap: 7 Days Opens No. 1 as Consensus No. 1 Kaleena Smith Earns MOP Honors

7 Days opens at No. 1 in the Scope Scouting Girls 17U Top 10 rankings after finishing 4–0 with the strongest overall resume. Kaleena Smith, the consensus five-star and No. 1 player in the 2027 class, earned Most Outstanding Player honors after leading 7 Days to a 4-0 record and a division-best +95 plus-minus. She was also one of the most-watched players in the gym, drawing a heavy college coaching presence that included UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, UCLA head coach Cori Close, and UCLA associate head coach Tony Newman.

Closing Thoughts

Session I established an early Girls 17U hierarchy, with 7 Days opening at No. 1 after a 4–0 weekend and the strongest overall resume in the division. Their guard play separated them, led by MOP Kaleena Smith, along with major production from 2029s Chloe Jenkins and Jordan Janae Brown.

Team Elite Hubbard, Northwest Greyhounds, FAM Hoops, and Lady Jets also made strong statements with undefeated weekends. ETG earned a top-six spot behind its head-to-head win over Lady Phenom United, while Southwest Select climbed into the Top 10 because of its strength of schedule, quality wins, and competitive showing against 7 Days.

Individually, Kaleena Smith delivered one of the top overall performances of the weekend, while Eve Long, Nation Williams, A’Zyua Blair, Chloe Jenkins, and Finley Chastain all posted standout production.

Session II will be important in tightening the rankings, separating the top contenders, and giving teams just outside the Top 10 a chance to strengthen their resume.
